Becoming a breeder of American Shorthairs was basically an accident. I never considered myself a cat person as I grew up with dogs my whole life. In fact my first cats found me in my backyard and the result was Spooky, who spent his short life of 18 months old as my best friend. After knowing Spooky and what wonderful companions a cat could be, I began to rescue.

A few years later after attending my first cat show, I began to show my first purebred cats which were Maine Coons and Ragdolls. Eventually, I made the switch from long hair to short hair cats, falling in love with the persona of the American Shorthair. This is how I met my husband Bob, who showed and bred Siamese.

Sometimes things just work out and because of my propensity to rescue, I was lucky enough to befriend two wonderful people who not only rescued, but also bred Americans. They were willing to be my mentors and the result is CatNBeary cattery, a name which combines my love of cats and Teddy Bears all in one.

When you purchase a CatNBeary kitten, you can be assured that your little one is happy and healthy. Our kittens are raised with the rest of our family, and become well socialized with dogs and other cats, as well as people, before placement. You will be required to sign a contract, for your protection, ours, and the kitten. We do not ship our kittens, but you are more than welcome to make arrangements for a visit with us, give us a call or send us an email so we can work out the details. In fact, we prefer you come to visit the cattery in person if at all possible.
